Our craft
Where did this come from, and what does it do to the body?
Two questions sit behind every Himalyan Naturals product.
The first is answered by NTFDP, our standard for sourcing from the forest. The second by Endo Neutral, the framework we formulate with.
Where it comes from
NTFDP: Non Timber Forest Derived Products
Forests give far more than timber. Flowers, fruits, seeds, leaves and resins can be gathered without cutting a single tree, and families in the Himalayas have gathered them this way for generations: in season, taking some and leaving enough for the plant to return. The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization recognises these as non-timber forest products, and India's Forest Rights Act of 2006 protects the communities who gather them.
NTFDP is our promise to source every Himalyan Naturals botanical the same careful way, and to be able to tell you exactly where it came from.
Harvested to regenerate
The question is not only whether a plant can be harvested, but whether it can be harvested so that it returns next season.
In its season
Nature has seasons, and responsible businesses respect them. Flowers when they flower, fruit when it fruits.
Guided by those who know
Generations of Himalayan communities have understood which plants grow where, when to gather, which parts to use and how much to leave. We learn from that knowledge.
Fair to the gatherer
In India, most forest gathering and first processing is done by women. A fair share of the value should stay with them, in the hills.
Traceable to its source
Where did this botanical grow? Was it renewable, in season, gathered with care? Every ingredient should be able to answer.
How it is made
Formulated with restraint.
Every product is developed using the Endo Neutral framework. Where a formulation genuinely needs a function, such as preservation, the aim is not to remove that function but to meet it with ingredients chosen with hormone safety in mind.
We do not promise miracles, and we do not call anything chemical-free. Everything is chemistry. What we offer instead is care in the choosing, and transparency about what is in the bottle and why.
The larger idea
Forest, raw material, factory, product, consumer. That is the usual line.
We would rather draw a circle: forest, responsible harvest, formulation, you, awareness, and back to the protection of the forest.
The forest should be a source of wellbeing without becoming a casualty of consumption.
